Tracing Your Roots To Gallipoli

Remembering some of the Bolton men who lost their lives in the Gallipoli Campaign of 1915

Richard Browitt

Richard was the son of Henry Browitt, a collier, b.1853 and Alice Browitt b.1856.

He married Margaret Delaney (b.1878) in Wigan in 1902 and the family moved to Bolton c.1910, appearing on the 1911 Census at 7 Holt Street, off Deane Road, Bolton.

On the the 1911 census they had 7 children, Annie b.1899, James b.1901, Richard b.1905, Gerald b.1906, Noah b.1908, Cornelius b.1909 and Arnold b.1911.

Another daughter, Nancy, was born in 1913.

He had worked as a Bessemer steel breaker before enlisting.
