Following upon the announcement that Private Chas. E. Casement (9457), 1st Border Regiment, had been wounded in the fighting in Gallipoli, comes the sad news that he has succumbed to his injuries. Private Casement was 22 years of age. His parents reside at 65 Crumpsall-st., Bolton. He enlisted in the Border Regiment when 14 years of age, joining the band. He spent five years in India, and returned to England in February this year. He came over to England where he was a patient at the Flixton Hospital. When his wounds were healed he went to the Border Regiment depot at Shoeburyness, afterwards proceeding to join his regiment in Gallipoli. He was wounded, this time on August 21st, and death took place two days later. His brother, James Arthur, is in the 3/5th Loyal North Lancashire Regiment at Weeton, whilst his father was for some years bandmaster of the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.

Charles was the son of John Casement b.1856, a school attendance officer, and Matilda Kate Casement née Rose b.1863.
