Tracing Your Roots To Gallipoli

Remembering some of the Bolton men who lost their lives in the Gallipoli Campaign of 1915

James Drury

James was the son of John Drury, a general labourer b.1853 and Ellen Drury b.1854.

He first appeared on the 1891 Census living with his mother as lodgers in the household of Edward and Margaret Marginson at 13 Back Dawes Street, Bolton.

His mother was then working as a cardroom hand.

By 1901 he was living at 47 Dawes Street, Bolton with his aunt, Sarah Granton and his cousin (or very likely his sister) Annie Drury b.1878. James was working as an errand boy.

James's name appears on the Bolton Borough Roll of Honour.
