Tracing Your Roots To Gallipoli

Remembering some of the Bolton men who lost their lives in the Gallipoli Campaign of 1915

John William Pitfield

John was the son of Walter Pitfield b.1872, a house painter and Ellen Pitfield née McGee b.1874.

John first appeared on the 1901 Census living at 6 Holden Street, Bolton with his parents and brother Charles Aloysious b.1899.

In 1911 they were living at 100 John Taylor Street, Bolton with additional children Benedict Joseph b.1905, Mary Magdeline b.1908 and Walter b.1909.

John was working as an apprentice fire grate fitter in 1911.

Another child, Wilfred A Pitfield, was born in 1913.
