Tracing Your Roots To Gallipoli

Remembering some of the Bolton men who lost their lives in the Gallipoli Campaign of 1915

Thomas Spencer

Thomas was the son of Henry Spencer b.1847, a cotton spinner, and Mary Spencer née Threlfall b.1848

Thomas first appeared on the 1881 Census living at 84 Aqueduct Street, Preston, Lancashire with his parents and siblings Anne J b.1867, Andrew b.1869, Arthur b.1872, Betsy b.1874, Jessie b.1876 and Mary b.1878.

In 1891 Thomas was living at 78 Brook Street with his parents and siblings Betsy, Jessie, Mary and Robert b.1893.

Thomas married Ada Clayton at St Bartholomew's Church, Bolton on 15 December 1900.

In 1901 they were living at 35 Channing Street, Bolton with two of Ada's sisters. Thomas was employed as a cotton spinner.

By 1911 Thomas and Ada were living at 31 Woodfield Street, Great Lever, Bolton with their children Robert b.1902 and Mary b.1904.
