Pte. Ben Howarth, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, whose parents reside at 50, Green-st., and who, prior to joining the Colours at the beginning of the war, was a ring doubler at the Lee Spinning Company’s mill, Atherton, was killed on July 15th. He fought in the Gallipoli campaign from July until September last, being sent home with enteric fever, but he was drafted to another field of operations in January. He is on the Parish Church Roll of Honour.
