Lance-Corpl. RUPERT MONKS, L.N.L. Regt., was killed by shell fire on September 20th. He enlisted in June, 1915, and had been at the front since March, 1916, serving as a battalion bomber. Aged 20, he was single, and the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Monks, 26 Shipton-st., Bolton. He is on the Rolls of Honour at Chorley Old-rd. Wesleyan Church, and Oxford Grove Council School, and before enlisting was employed at the Temple Bleachworks.
