The worst fears of the relatives of Pte. ALEXANDER PRESTON, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, first reported wounded and then wounded and missing, have been realized by the receipt of letters from two comrades, stating that he was killed on September 9th. A son of the late Mr. Joseph John Preston, deceased resided at 16, Crosby-rd and was 18 years of age. He enlisted on April 15th, 1915, and left for the front in March. Deceased was previously employed at Messrs. Musgrave’s Globe Ironworks, and is on the Rolls of Honour at St. Margaret’s Church, Oxford-grove School, and the Sandylands Council School, Morecambe.
